Sikagard® 700S is a one-part, solvent-based, water repellent, impregnation for absorbent cementitious substrates. It is used as a water repellent and colorless protective surface treatment absorbent exposed materials such as concrete, cementitious rendering. It penetrates well into open pores of the substrate, providing durable water repellency, while still allowing water vapor diffusion in both directions. Sikagard® 700S has a maximum shelf life of 12 months from the date of production in undamaged, original, sealed packaging, in cool and dry condition at a maximum temperature of up to 20°c.
It can be used as a hydrophobic primer under solvent-based or water-based protective coatings. It can be overcoated with solvent-based and dispersion coating, providing much higher durability and resistance than conventional silicone based treatments. In addition, it reduces efflorescence and dirt penetration that could harm the substrates and also reduces capillary water absorption.
Before application, it is advised to remove any dust, oil, efflorescence or paint coatings on the substrate surface. Any cracks that are more than 200 microns is advised to be repaired prior to application. Cleaning is best achieved by brushing with suitable detergents or by light blast cleaning or steam cleaning etc. Best results are obtained on dry, very absorbent substrates.
