Sikafloor® 81 EpoCem® is a three-component, epoxy modified, cementitious with fine-textured mortar for self smoothing floor screeds in thin layers of 1.5 millimeters to 3 millimeters. Advantage: It is economical, providing fast and easy application for user. It features good leveling properties and good chemical resistance with excellent bond to green or hardened concrete whether damp or dry. It is impervious to liquids and permeable to water vapour with thermal expansion properties similar to concrete. In addition, It has excellent resistance to water and oil, and ideal for smooth surface finishes.
Usage: Sikafloor® 81 EpoCem® is specifically made for use as a temporary moisture barrier, self-smoothing screed, or patch and repair mortar. As a temporary moisture barrier, it is advised that the layer should be at a minimum of 2 millimeters thick; allowing the application of Epoxy, Polyurethane and PMMA resin floors require dry substrates, over high moisture content substrates, even green concrete, for a lasting solution. As a self-smoothing screed, Sikafloor® 81 EpoCem® can be used as leveling or patching of horizontal concrete surfaces, in new work or repairs, in volatile chemical environment; floor topping on non-ventilated damp substrates without particular aesthetic requirements and as a leveling layer under Epoxy, Polyurethane and PMMA* floor coatings or screeds, tiles, sheet floors, carpets or wooden floors.Sikafloor® 81 EpoCem® is a three-component, epoxy modified, cementitious with fine-textured mortar for self smoothing floor screeds in thin layers of 1.5 millimeters to 3 millimeters. Prior to application, the concrete substrate must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength with a minimum pull strength of 1.5 N/mm². All dust, loose and friable material must be completely removed from all surfaces before application, preferably by brush or vacuum. Concrete substrates must be prepared mechanically using abrasive blast cleaning or scarifying equipment to remove cement laitance and achieve an open textured surface. Weak concrete and surface defects must be mechanically removed and fully exposed. Furthermore, Repairs to the substrate, filling of blowholes/ voids and surface levelling must be carried out using appropriate products from the Sikafloor®, SikaDur® and Sikagard® range of materials.
In addition, Sikafloor® 81 EpoCem® can be applied on green or damp concrete, without any standing water. However, it is advised to allow at least 3 days for early shrinkage of concrete to occur in order to prevent concrete shrinkage cracks from appearing on the screed surface.
Prior to mixing, shake part A briefly until homogenous, then pour into container of part B and shake vigorously again for at least 30 seconds. When dosing out of drums, stir and homogenise first. After that, pour the mixed binder mixture of part A and B into a suitable mixing container and gradually add part C to the mixer while stirring with a power mixer. Mix thoroughly for 3 minutes until a uniform mix has been achieved with no lumps. It is advised to mix only full units of A+B+C components and do not add water.
In addition, freshly applied Sikafloor®-81 EpoCem® New HC must be protected from damp, condensation and water for at least 24 hours. Applications under extreme conditions (high temperature and low humidity) which can cause fast drying of the product must be avoided as the product does not allow the use of curing compound. If Sikafloor®-81 EpoCem® New HC is used as TMB (Temporary Moisture Barrier), a layer of a minimum 2 mm thick must be applied. It is advised to prevent premature drying by protecting from strong wind and do not expose to direct sunlight while fresh. Furthermore, incorrect assessment and treatment of cracks can lead to a reduced service life and reflective cracking.
For safety precautions, it is advised to use proper protective equipment when handling and using the product. It should not be disposed into the drainage system or nearby water sources and soil, properly dispose of this product according to local laws and regulations.Prior to application, the concrete substrate must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength with a minimum pull strength of 1.5 N/mm².
