Sikagard® 62 is a two-part, rigid, 100% solids, colored high build epoxy resin based protective coating. Advantage: It is easy to mix and work with, and excellent bonding to all common structural substrates. It provides exceptional tensile strength, featuring good chemical and mechanical resistance, and impervious to liquids. In addition, it provides super abrasion resistance for long-term wear. Sikagard® 62 is used as a high-build, corrosion-resistant, protective coating, lining for secondary containment structures or as a seamless flooring system.
It is packaged in 12 kilograms aluminum drums of set A and B with a shelf life of up to 2 years from the date of production in original, unopened containers. It is advised to store Sikagard® 62 at a temperature between 4°C and 35°C. In addition, condition material to 18°-24°C before using.
Prior to application, the surface must be clean and sound. It may be dry or damp, but free of standing water. Remove dust, laitance, grease, curing compounds, impregnations, waxes, and any other contaminants. Concrete should be cleaned and prepared to achieve a laitance and contaminant free, open-textured surface by blast cleaning or equivalent mechanical means. In addition, steel should be cleaned and prepared thoroughly by blast cleaning. For mixing instruction, measure a proportion of equal parts by volume of Components ‘A’ and ‘B’ into a clean mixing container. Afterward, mix both components using a low-speed drill, preferably around 400-600 rotation per minute, or using a Sika paddle for 3 minutes until uniform in color.
For application instruction, apply Sikagard® 62 using high-quality roller, brush or spray. Two coats are recommended. Then, apply a second coat as soon as the first coat is tack-free and the traffic of application will not damage the first coat. The second coat, however, must be applied within 48 hours since a longer delay will require additional surface preparation. Do not spray with slip-resistant granules mixed into the coating.
For safety precautions, it is advised to use proper protective equipment when handling and using the product. It should not be disposed into the drainage system or nearby water sources and soil, properly dispose of this product according to local laws and regulations.
