Sika® Skim Coat is a one-component, pre-packed instant cement with selected filler and several admixtures. The powder mixture can be mixed with water for repairing surface defects in substrates such as concrete out of the packaging. In addition, it can be used for surface finishing work on plaster or concrete surface. It is easy to use, by simply adding water to the powder it is ready for the application on the substrates. It has a shelf life of approximately 9 months from the date of production in original, sealed and undamaged packaging.
Sika® Skim Coat is mainly used on reinforced concrete surfaces, precast concrete panels, brick and block works etc. Because of its excellent adhesion and smooth finishing, it is suitable for both interior and exterior application. Furthermore, it is able to prevent hair crack on surfaces, caused by material shrinkage, by creating a layer of up to 3 millimeters of thickness.
For application instruction, it is advised to check the substrate surface whether it is clean, sound, level and uncontaminated by oil or grease. In addition to this, remove any cement laitance, dust, and loosely adhering particles presented on the substrate surface, so to ensure that nothing contaminates the application of the product. Next, mix Sika® Skim Coat with approximately 8 liters of water slowly and properly using a slow speed mixer. Afterward, the mixture can be applied by using a flat trowel for coating the substrate surface.
For safety reasons, it is mandatory to use personal protective equipment when handling or using Sika® Skim Coat. Avoid contact with eye, skin, and inhalation, as this product can be harmful to human being. When not in use, store the product in its original package and reseal it back carefully. On the other hand, do not release or empty this product and its content into the nearby water source or sewage system.
