Sikadur® 31CF Normal is a two-component, moisture tolerant, thixotropic adhesive and repair mortar, based on a combination of epoxy resins and special fillers, designed for use at temperatures between +10°C and +30°C. It is easy to mix and apply and does not sag in vertical or overhead application. It has excellent abrasion and chemical resistance, highly suitable for dry and damp concrete surfaces and impermeable to liquids and water vapor. Furthermore, it provides excellent structural adhesive for mortar, concrete elements, hard natural stone, ceramics, and most construction materials. Sikadur® 31CF Normal has a shelf life of up to 2 years from the date of production in original, unopened and undamaged container in cool and dry condition.
The substrate surface must be sound, dry, clean and free from laitance, ice, standing water, grease, oils, surface treatment or coatings, and loose or friable particles must be removed to achieve a laitance and contaminant free, open-textured surface.
Mix both components for at least 3 minutes with a mixing spindle attached to a slow speed electric drill until the material becomes smooth in consistency and a uniform grey color, while avoiding aeration during mixing. Afterward, pour the whole mix into a clean container and stir again for about a minute at low speed to keep air entrapment at a minimum. It is advised to mix only the appropriate amount that is used within its potlife. The standard consumption of Sikadur® 31CF Normal is approximately 2 kilograms per m², per millimeter of thickness. Furthermore, the application on vertical surfaces provides a non-sag ability of up to 15 millimeters of thickness. On the other hand, when using multiple units, do not mix the following unit until the previous one has used, in order to avoid a reduction in handling time.
When using a thin layer adhesive, apply the mixed adhesive to the prepared surface with a spatula, trowel, notched trowel. When applying as a repair mortar, use some formwork for guidance during applying. Furthermore, as bonding metal profiles onto vertical surfaces, support and press uniformly using props for at least 12 hours, depending on the thickness applied and the room temperature during application. Once hardened check the adhesion by tapping with a hammer.
For safety precautions, it is advised to use proper protective equipment when handling and using the product. It should not be disposed into the drainage system or nearby water sources and soil, properly dispose of this product according to local laws and regulations.
