Sikalastic -311 (AE) is a cold applied, one-component, pitch modified hydrophilic polyurethane waterproofing membrane. Advantage: It is highly elastic with excellent adhesion on porous and non-porous substrates. In addition, it has excellent tensile strength, resistant to oxidation with self-priming and thixotropic properties. Due to its waterproofing capability, it is seamless with a fully bonded waterproofing membrane. Sikalastic -311 (AE) is packaged in 20 liters pail with a shelf life of up to 12 months from the date of production in original, unopened and undamaged sealed. It is advised to store properly in cool, dry condition away from direct sunlight and frost.
Usage: Sikalastic -311 (AE) is specifically made for use as waterproofing solutions in both new construction and refurbishment projects and as a waterproofing membrane of bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens, balconies, and substructure foundations. It is highly suitable for use in hot and tropical climatic conditions. It provides a tensile strength of up to 2 N/mm² unreinforced, and a tear strength of up to 22 N/mm².
Prior to application, all substrates must be cleaned and prepared using a high-pressure water jet. Abrasive blast cleaning, scarifying equipment to or other suitable approved mechanical methods. Concrete must be checked for any cracks and defects, if found must be repaired and filled before application of Sikalastic -311 (AE).
For application, apply 2 coats of Sikalastic®-311 (AE) to the prepared substrate after mixing the Sikalastic®-311 (AE) with a slow speed mixer, then apply it using a notched trowel and spread the product evenly over the area. For higher tensile strength and tear resistance, it is recommended to incorporate Sikalastic® Reemat Premium reinforcement sheet in between the 2 coats within the 24 hours curing period prior to applying the final coats, in which a homogeneous finish should be achieved at the final stage of coating application.
When applying Sikalastic®-311 (AE) in wet rooms it is recommended to install mortar arris’s / fillets and Sika®FlexiTape or Sikalastic® Reemat Premium at all upstands and skirtings. Drainage pipes and outlets must be sealed with Sikaflex® Construction+ prior to the waterproofing. Ensure that each coat of Sikalastic®-311 (AE) is totally dry and the surface is without pinholes before applying further coats. Sikalastic®-311 (AE) is not suitable for permanent water immersion.Sikalastic®-311 (AE) is not resistant to permanent UV exposure and weathering. It must always be protected against UV exposure within a defined period of time, 21 days maximum.
For safety precautions, it is advised to use proper protective equipment when handling and using the product. It should not be disposed into the drainage system or nearby water sources and soil, properly dispose of this product according to local laws and regulations.
