Sikaflex® Construction (AP) is a one-part, moisture curing, elastic joint sealant based on polyurethane suitable for use in outdoor applications. It is specifically made for use in movement and connection joints on porous substrates or precast concrete construction as well as indoor and outdoor general sealing application, providing excellent adhesion with good weathering resistance and noncorrosive. It is packaged in 600 milliliters plastic tube, 20 of them per box, and has a shelf life of up to 12 months from the date of production in undamaged, original, and sealed containers within cool and dry condition protected from direct sunlight. Sikaflex® Construction (AP) is supplied ready to use straight out of the box.
It is used as a general purpose elastic sealant for sealing joints in building construction such as movement and construction/isolation joints around window and door frames, facades, claddings in concrete, brick, wood, metal and PVC sections and structures.
It is advised to prepare the substrate before application, make sure it is clean and dry, homogeneous, free from oils and grease, dust and loose or friable particles.
After finishing the preparation, insert the Backing Rod to the required depth and apply primer if necessary. Insert sausage into sealant gun and firmly extrude Sikaflex® Construction (AP) into the joint with full contact with the side of the joint. In addition, masking tape may be used if there are sharp exact joint lines. After application, remove the tape whilst the sealant is still soft.
For safety precautions, it is advised to use proper protective equipment when handling and using the product. It should not be disposed into the drainage system or nearby water sources and soil, properly dispose of this product according to local laws and regulations.
