Sika® Multiseal®

Sika® Multiseal® is a self-adhesive, rubber modified, bituminous sealing tape laminated with an aluminium foil on the upper side. It is easy to use and apply with excellent adhesion and self-adhering capabilities. In addition, it provides an economical way to prevent bricks and mortars from water ingression and high heat exposure. It is used for sealing and repairing bricks, mortars, pipes and roofs, against water ingress and draughts. Sika® Multiseal® is packaged in rolls of 3 meters of 100 millimetres and 300 millimetres and has a shelf life of up to 72 months from the date of production if stored properly in undamaged, original, sealed packaging. Furthermore, it is advised to store it in a cool and dry place, protected from direct sunlight, and at room temperature.

It is advised that the substrate must be clean, sound, homogeneous, oil-free and grease-free, dust and loose or friable particles must be removed. In addition, Cement laitance and other poorly adhering contaminants must also be removed by hand or mechanical means. On metallic substrates or plastic, solvents such as Sika® Colma-Cleaner is recommended for a thorough clean of the substrate. On porous substrates such as concrete, the adhesion can be improved with a bituminous primer.

When applying, measure the prepared substrate and cut the tape to the required length and size. Then, remove the release film and press firmly on the substrate using pressure roller or other mechanical means. It is optional to use a hot-air dryer to heat up the tape for better adhesion to the substrate. It is advised that Sika® Multiseal® is not suitable for sealing against water pressure and there might be some possibility that water infiltration around and underneath the bituminous seal is possible.

For safety precautions, it is advised to use proper protective equipment when handling and using the product. It should not be disposed into the drainage system or nearby water sources and soil, properly dispose of this product according to local laws and regulations. In addition, dispose off this product as construction garbage or disposal.
