Sika® Primer-215 is a transparent, solvent-based, one-component polyurethane with low viscosity and fast drying property. It is packaged in 1 liters container, with a shelf life of up to 12 months from the date of production in undamaged, unopened, original container in dry condition protected from direct sunlight. It is used for priming various materials such as plastics, timber and other porous materials prior to bonding with Sika® products. It is highly suitable for use with GRP plastic, epoxy resins, PVC, ABS, FRP, plywood, non-metallic substrates, timber, and wooden fixtures. If used on plastic, a trial test is recommended as plastic may have different chemical composition.
Sika® Primer-215 is best when applied as a thin layer, covering coat with a brush or dauber. It is advised not to apply at temperatures below 10°C or above 35°C. After application, allow the primer to dry for a minimum of 30 minutes at around 23°C and at 50 percent relative humidity. In addition, ambient temperature and substrate porosity may affect drying time, it is advised to check and observe after primer application. For best results, it is recommended to apply Sikaflex® products within two hours after priming the surface and avoid repriming the area again. Furthermore, additional care must be taken to ensure that this single application gives adequate dense coverage.
It is advised to discard Sika® Primer-215 that has gelled or separated, or if it gets limpid. Furthermore, do not apply on frozen surfaces or through standing water, over silicones or in the presence of curing silicones, and avoid contact with alcohol and solvents containing alcohol during cure.
For safety precautions, it is advised to use proper protective equipment when handling and using the product. It should not be disposed into the drainage system or nearby water sources and soil, properly dispose of this product according to local laws and regulations.
